UPCOMING EVENTS:

 Great Lent – St. George, as a parish, is preparing for the start of Great Lent.  

 

RECENT EVENTS:

Fellowship Care Packets for the Homeless – Over 25 people came to Walgreens to distribute care packets for the homeless that they prepared.  Thank you to President Alex Damarjian for his amazing efforts to spearhead this worthwhile humanitarian outing.  (3/2/13).

Bible Study – Fr. Dahdal led a Bible Study at home of Daoud & Hania Kahoush in Bolingbrook.  Nearly 40 people were in attendance.  Subdeacon Joseph Hazar held a separate Bible Study for children under 12 years of age.  (February)

Feed the Homeless Humanitarian Outing – FSJD prepared care packets for the Homeless on (12/21/12).

St. George Winter Basketball League – We hosted our first ever basketball league.  8 teams from 4 churches registered: St. Mary Alsip, St. Mark Burr Ridge, St. John Northlake, and St. George Cicero.  It was an exciting league and we congratulate St. Mary for being crowned champions.  It was held from November 2012 to February 2013.  Thank you to Michael Dahdal and Fady Mseih for all of their hard work.  Thanks also to St. Mark for allowing the use of their gym.

- Fellowship & SOYO Ugly Sweater Christmas Party: This joint Fellowship and SOYO event proved successful.  Almost 40 people sang, danced and wore our ugliest sweaters.  Thanks to Abe Harb or Linette Rayahin for chairing. (12/7)

- St. George Sports Ministry held games for Week 1-4  (11/27-12/18)

- Turkey Bowl: Thanks to all who played on Thanksgiving. (11/22)

- Open Gym: Many practiced before the league started. (11/20).

CONGRATULATIONS:

- To our newly elected Patriarch, His Beautitude Patriarch YOHANNA (John) X, as the new Patriarch of the Church of Antioch.  Previously, Metropolitan YOHANNA (John) Yaziji was the Metropolitan of Western and Central Europe.  Axios!

- We extend a collective happy birthday to all March birthdays.

 

CONDOLENCES:

- To the Abuelizam, Imseeh, Saba, and Zanayed families on their recent losses of loved ones departing this life.
