A 50th Anniversary Celebration to Remember

ST. GEORGE’S 50th Anniversary Celebration

Clergy 50

First and foremost, St. George would like to extend its great and most heartfelt appreciation to His Eminence Metropolitan PHILIP for gracing our parish and community with His presence all throughout this past weekend.  Sayidna, your energy, enthusiasm, passion and love for this parish was quite evident and contagious.  We were blessed to have with us His Grace Bishop ANTOUN and our Bishop, His Grace Bishop ANTHONY for the Celebration.  Thank you, Your Graces, for leaving us humbled and overjoyed at your presence during this time.  Economos Fr. Antony Gabriel, our first Pastor, thank you for returning to your home and being here with us.  Archmandrite Fr. Athanasios Emmert, we felt your immense love for this parish and we missed you.  To all of the clergy who faithfully served with us on Sunday or in our 50 years, thank you.  Also, we thank each individual who sponsored a table or hosted an event, attended the banquet or received recognitions and awards, gave their support or volunteered on the committee in making St. George Cicero’s 50th Anniversary Celebration one for the ages.

Archdeacon
Congratulations to the newly titled Archdeacon Saed Rihani on his blessed day.  Congratulations also go to our Head Chanter of over 45 years, Jameel Haddad, and Subdeacon Mazen Khalifeh, on their awards of lifetime service to this St. George parish.  The weekend of festivities was full of history making moments that we will sure to use for our 75th and 100th Year Celebrations.  Congratulations go out to all of the Founders, including Nicola Haddad, the only living founder of this parish, and all of the Benefactors, including Salameh Zanayed, the only living benefactor of this parish in attendance, for their pivotal roles in the parish’s infancy.

Also, congratulations go out to the amazingly dedicated 50th Anniversary Celebration Chairperson, Darlene Haddad, on her tireless efforts in ensuring this weekend of events would be respectful, efficient and memorable.  Darlene and her solid committee worked long and hard on this Anniversary Celebration, and for that, we applaud their efforts.  To all of the out-of-town guests, especially members of the Archdiocese Board of Trustees and Order of St. Ignatius, we were honored by your presence in sharing this special time with us.

A most special congratulation goes to our beloved Pastor of 27-plus years, Economos Nicholas Dahdal, on receiving the highest honor our Archdiocese can bestow, the Antiochian Gold Medal for this lifetime of faithful service to the St. George Cicero parish and the Antiochian Archdiocese.  Fr. Nicholas, it is much deserved.  May God grant you many years.  Enjoy some of the amazing photos from the magical weekend.  May God bless you all
